LEVITICUS 19:18
18 'You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the
children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself:

47 It is God who avenges me, and subdues the peoples under me;
48 He delivers me from my enemies. You also lift me up above

3 Do not take me away with the wicked and with the workers of

PSALM 56:3-4
3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
4 In God (I will praise His word), in God I have put my trust;
I will not fear. What can flesh do to me?
PSALM 59:9-13, 16-17
9 I will wait for You, O You his Strength; for God is my defense;
10 My God of mercy shall come to meet me; God shall let me see
my desire on my enemies.
11 Do not slay them, lest my people forget; scatter them by Your
power, and bring them down, O Lord our shield.
12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, let
them even be taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying
which they speak.
13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be;
and let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth...
16 But I will sing of Your power; yes, I will sing aloud of Your
mercy in the morning; for You have been my defense and refuge
in the day of my trouble.
17 To You, O my Strength, I will sing praises; for God is my defense,

PSALM 66:7
7 He rules by His power forever; his eyes observe the nations;
do not let the rebellious exalt themselves...
PSALM 74:10-11
10 O God, how long will the adversary reproach? Will the enemy
blaspheme Your name forever?
11 Why do You withdraw Your hand, even Your right hand? Take it
out of Your bosom and destroy them.
PSALM 94:1-23
1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongs-- O God, to whom vengeance
belongs, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O Judge of the earth; render punishment to the proud.
3 LORD, how long will the wicked, how long will the wicked triumph?
4 They utter speech, and speak insolent things; all the workers
of iniquity boast in themselves.
5 They break in pieces Your people, O LORD, and afflict Your heritage.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.
7 Yet they say, "The LORD does not see, nor does the God of Jacob
understand."
8 Understand, you senseless among the people; and you fools, when
will you be wise?
9 He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the
eye, shall He not see?
10 He who instructs the nations, shall He not correct, he who
teaches man knowledge?
11 The LORD knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile.
12 Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O LORD, and teach out
of Your law,
13 That You may give him rest from the days of adversity, until
the pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the LORD will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake
His inheritance.
15 But judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright
in heart will follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? Who will stand
up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul would soon have settled
in silence.
18 If I say, "My foot slips," your mercy, O LORD, will hold me
up.
19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me, your comforts delight
my soul.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law, have
fellowship with You?
21 They gather together against the life of the righteous, and
condemn innocent blood.
22 But the LORD has been my defense, and my God the rock of my
refuge.
23 He has brought on them their own iniquity, and shall cut them
off in their own wickedness; the LORD our God shall cut them off.
PSALM 96:10-13
10 Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns; the world also is
firmly established, it shall not be moved; he shall judge the
peoples righteously."
11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the
sea roar, and all its fullness;
12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the
trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD.
13 For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall
judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth.
PSALM 109:1-31
1 Do not keep silent, O God of my praise!
2 For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful have
opened against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.
3 They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought
against me without a cause.
4 In return for my love they are my accusers, but I give myself
to prayer.
5 Thus they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my
love.
6 Set a wicked man over him, and let an accuser stand at his right
hand.
7 When he is judged, let him be found guilty, and let his prayer
become sin.
8 Let his days be few, and let another take his office.
9 Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.
10 Let his children continually be vagabonds, and beg; let them
seek their bread also from their desolate places.
11 Let the creditor seize all that he has, and let strangers plunder
his labor.
12 Let there be none to extend mercy to him, nor let there be
any to favor his fatherless children.
13 Let his posterity be cut off, and in the generation following
let their name be blotted out.
14 Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered before the LORD,
and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out.
15 Let them be continually before the LORD, that He may cut off
the memory of them from the earth;
16 Because he did not remember to show mercy, but persecuted the
poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.
17 As he loved cursing, so let it come to him; as he did not delight
in blessing, so let it be far from him.
18 As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, so
let it enter his body like water, and like oil into his bones.
19 Let it be to him like the garment which covers him, and for
a belt with which he girds himself continually.
20 Let this be the LORD'S reward to my accusers, and to those
who speak evil against my person.
21 But You, O GOD the Lord, deal with me for Your name's sake;
because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am gone like a shadow when it lengthens; I am shaken off
like a locust.
24 My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh is feeble from
lack of fatness.
25 I also have become a reproach to them; when they look at me,
they shake their heads.
26 Help me, O LORD my God! Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27 That they may know that this is Your hand-- that You, LORD,
have done it!
28 Let them curse, but You bless; when they arise, let them be
ashamed, but let Your servant rejoice.
29 Let my accusers be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves
with their own disgrace as with a mantle.
30 I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yes, I will praise
Him among the multitude.
31 For He shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him
from those who condemn him.
PSALM 110:1
1 The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, till I make
Your enemies Your footstool."
PSALM 119:84-88
84 How many are the days of Your servant? When will You execute
judgment on those who persecute me?
85 The proud have dug pits for me, which is not according to Your
law.
86 All Your commandments are faithful; they persecute me wrongfully;
help me!
87 They almost made an end of me on earth, but I did not forsake
Your precepts.
88 Revive me according to Your lovingkindness, so that I may keep
the testimony of Your mouth.
PROVERBS 24:17-34
17 Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart
be glad when he stumbles;
18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease Him, and He turn away
His wrath from him.
19 Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the wicked;
20 For there will be no prospect for the evil man; the lamp of
the wicked will be put out.
21 My son, fear the LORD and the king; do not associate with those
given to change;
22 For their calamity will rise suddenly, and who knows the ruin
those two can bring?
23 These things also belong to the wise: it is not good to show
partiality in judgment.
24 He who says to the wicked, "You are righteous," him the people
will curse; nations will abhor him.
25 But those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good
blessing will come upon them.
26 He who gives a right answer kisses the lips.
27 Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the
field; and afterward build your house.
28 Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, for
would you deceive with your lips?
29 Do not say, "I will do to him just as he has done to me; I
will render to the man according to his work."
30 I went by the field of the lazy man, and by the vineyard of
the man devoid of understanding;
31 And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; its surface was
covered with nettles; its stone wall was broken down.
32 When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received
instruction:
33 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands
to rest;
34 So shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like
an armed man.
MATTHEW 5:38-48
38 "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye and a
tooth for a tooth.'
39 "But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps
you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.
40 "If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him
have your cloak also.
41 "And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.
42 "Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow
from you do not turn away.
43 "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor
and hate your enemy.'
44 "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse
you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully
use you and persecute you,
45 "that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes
His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the
just and on the unjust.
46 "For if you love those who love you, what reward have you?
Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 "And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than
others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?
48 "Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven
is perfect.
LUKE 18:1-8
1 Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray
and not lose heart,
2 saying: "There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear
God nor regard man.
3 "Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying,
'Get justice for me from my adversary.'
4 "And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within
himself, 'Though I do not fear God nor regard man,
5 'yet because this widow troubles me I will avenge her, lest
by her continual coming she weary me.'"
6 Then the Lord said, "Hear what the unjust judge said.
7 "And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and
night to Him, though He bears long with them?
8 "I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless,
when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?"
ROMANS 12:17-21
17 Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in
the sight of all men.
18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably
with all men.
19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to
wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says
the Lord.
20 Therefore "If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty,
give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap coals of fire
on his head."
21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

15 See that no one renders evil for evil to anyone, but always
pursue what is good both for yourselves and for all.
2 THESSALONIANS 1:6-9
6 ...it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation
those who trouble you,
7 and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord
Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,
8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God,
and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,

10:30
30 For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine; I will repay,"
says the Lord. And again, "The Lord will judge His people."
JAMES
4:11-12
11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil
of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and
judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of
the law but a judge.
12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.
Who are you to judge another?
1 PETER
2:20-24
20 For what credit is it if, when you are beaten for your faults,
you take it patiently? But when you do good and suffer, if you
take it patiently, this is commendable before God.
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for
us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
22 "Who committed no sin, nor was deceit found in His mouth";
23 who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He
suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who
judges righteously;
24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that
we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness-- by whose
stripes you were healed.
1 PETER
3:8-22
8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one
another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous;
9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on
the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that
you may inherit a blessing.
10 For "He who would love life and see good days, let him refrain
his tongue from evil, and his lips from speaking deceit.
11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace
and pursue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears
are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against
those who do evil."
13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of
what is good?
14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you
are blessed. "And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled."
15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready
to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope
that is in you, with meekness and fear;
16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers,
those who revile your good conduct in Christ may be ashamed.
17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing
good than for doing evil.
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust,
that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh
but made alive by the Spirit,
19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering
waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared,
in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
21 There is also an antitype which now saves us-- baptism (not
the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good
conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
22 who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels
and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. |
